“The “Lady Neurotic,” as I affectionately dub her, is having a major moment in pop culture, and many people have a hard time conceptualizing any twenty-something female character that isn’t on the brink of falling apart. We see this character throughout Lena Dunham’s Girls, where a slew of narcissistic young women guzzle too much alcohol and make a living telling self-deprecating jokes about their lady parts and lady feelings. We see her on The New Girl, where the simultaneously loved and reviled Zooey Deschanel cries her way into a new apartment. We see her in the film Bridesmaids, where Kristen Wiig’s character Annie has lackluster sex with a boyfriend who treats her like dirt.”—The Rumpus Review of Obvious Child by Arielle Bernstein. “When you are old and grey and full of sleep
And nodding by the fire, take down this book,
And slowly read, and dream of the soft look
Your eyes had once, and of their shadows deep”—W.B. Yeats (via observando)
I'm curious as to whether you post up content based on your followers or more based on your interests. Do you post to gain followers or just post whatever you find that is interesting? Do you censor your blog at all?
I post whatever I see on my dash that I find interesting or visually appealing and want to share. I guess in that sense it is for my followers but I don’t give it a lot of thought it’s mostly mindless scrolling then ‘ooh ah’ hit reblog. Sometimes I’ll see a hot sex gif that I’ll stare at a while but I’ll usually decide against posting those. I notice I don’t post some of the more tragic social justice articles/petitions/depressing quotes even when they move me. Perhaps you’ll see more of those in the future. But, why do you ask?
“What I want is to open up. I want to know what’s inside me. I want everybody to open up. I’m like an imbecile with a can opener in his hand, wondering where to begin— to open up the earth. I know that underneath the mess everything is marvelous. I’m sure of it.”—Henry Miller (via emergentpattern)
“Their intelligence. Elephants understand that ivory is the reason they’re being killed. There are very, very few big bulls with big ivory left in the world, and the two or three still in Tsavo have become nocturnal. I’ve seen a bull with big tusks by the road turn his back, trying to hide the ivory.”—
What’s the biggest misconception people have about elephants?
